Craft Night at Open House

Queer Archives with the Ankh

Event Description: (Attendance open to the public) Wesleyan's SOC magazine will display our physical archives, going back to 1980, of queer SOC writing, art, and op-eds for students to check out. Refreshments will be served and a collaborative writing project will be implemented.

StarGAYzing

HIV Testing + Sex Toy Raffle

Event Description: (attendance open to Wesleyan students only) Have you gotten tested recently? Stop by WesWell to get FREE rapid testing for HIV and Hep C. Rapid testing takes 15 minutes and only requires a finger prick! Everyone who gets tested will get raffle tickets to enter into a sex toy of choice raffle if they choose. Testing is the best way to de-stigmatize STIs and also practice community and self-care at the same time. Results can be texted to you, no need to wait! Testing is provided by the Center for Key Populations

Maddie's Secret Film Screening

Zine Pride

Event Organizers: Wesleyan Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) (Cale Kaminsky, PsyD and Caroline Mahan, MA)

Event Description: (attendance open to Wesleyan students only) The program, based on narrative and art therapy research, aims to provide LGBTQ+ students with a creative space to express their stories through the creation of Zines. The program aims to support identity empowerment, feelings of community, and the expression of lived experiences. CAPS staff will attend the event both in support of the community, and as a clinical resource for students. Beyond creating a safe space for creative expression, empowerment, and engagement with an accessible and historically salient activity-- the program will further serve to bring awareness to CAPS and LGBTQ+ student resources.

Make Me a Mix

Event Description: (attendance open to Wesleyan students only) This workshop will dive into queer music that both speaks to and solidifies our cultural norms around sexuality, pleasure, love, conflict, jealousy, and heartbreak. In this two-hour, music-filled, genre-traversing workshop, participants will explore the sex and relationship lessons that underpin some of our favorite songs. Explore queer lessons and joy from a new perspective, encouraging greater self-reflection.

Nail Night

Event Description: (attendance open to the public)  Do you want to have cute nails for Halloween?  Do you just want to explore gender and sexuality with nail art? Do you want to learn how to take care of your nails?  Just need a second to chill because school is annoying?  Come join the Resource Center's Gender and Sexuality Interns for our annual nail night workshop.  We will have gel polish and manicure supplies available that are completely free and open to everyone to use on themselves!

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma Film Screening

A queer filmmaker is hired to reboot a long-running slasher franchise with a troubling transphobic legacy and becomes determined to cast the reclusive actress who played the original film’s “final girl.” Their collaboration develops into a surreal exploration of horror, desire, trans identity, memory, and the complicated relationship between representation and the movies that shape us.
